Originally from Aotearoa, New Zealand, Emily moved to the northern hemisphere, spent her teens in Heiltsuk Territory on the central coast of BC, and finally found her home in W̱SÁNEĆ Territory on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island. Emily graduated from the Simon Fraser University Writers Studio Program, discovering a passion for poetry and exploring a variety of literary genres. She continues a life-long writing practice and has a memoir in the works. Emily is the Executive Director and founder of the Connection Project Society. Since 2018, she has been the Artistic Director and Speaker Coach for the Connection Project’s annual mental health storytelling event in SET,TINES, Sidney, BC. With over two decades of experience in leadership and management roles, Emily comes to life when witnessing others realize their full potential. Emily facilitates Cultivating Safe Spaces workshops and community gatherings focused on creativity, personal growth, and healing. In addition, Emily is venturing into documentary filmmaking to expand her interest in connection through storytelling. Emily lives in W̱SÁNEĆ territory on Vancouver Island, BC, with her husband and two children.
