The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition received a $1.75 million grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to pilot an Immigrant Assistance Services Program (IAS). This program provides targeted legal and case management support to newly arrived immigrants residing in Massachusetts’ emergency assistance (EA) shelters located at hotel and motel sites. Volunteers are needed to ensure this program runs smoothly and successfully.
We are looking for volunteers for upcoming legal clinics (dates to be announced, typically clinics are held on weekdays from 9-4:30). We need volunteers both with and without legal experience as well as with and without language capabilities beyond English. Volunteers are needed to staff the registration table, assist with copying and scanning documents, and assist participants in completing clinic paperwork - there is a role for everyone! Immigration attorneys and accredited reps will also have the opportunity to help with quality control review. Training will be provided, and volunteers are asked to bring with them a charged cellphone as well as a charger.
There are no clinics currently scheduled, please check back soon for more information.
