In this training, participants will understand best practices in trauma-informed and culturally-responsive mental health screening, describe the key tasks and activities involved in the process of creating a district/school mental health screening plan, identify where your school/district is in the process of creating a district/school mental health screening plan, anticipate 1-2 possible barriers to implementing mental health screening and identify strategies to mitigate these challenges.
This session will be conducted by:
Tali Raviv is a Clinical Psychologist and Associate Director of the Center for Childhood Resilience at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Associate Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Raviv has over 15 years of clinical and research experience in hospital, school, and community settings. Her work focuses on promoting resilience and increasing access to evidence-based mental health programming for children and communities impacted by poverty, toxic stress and trauma, and racism. Dr. Raviv’s research focuses on the implementation and dissemination of evidence-based interventions for youth to school and community settings and program development and evaluation. She serves on the Steering Committee of the Providing Access Toward Hope and Healing (PATHH) Collaborative and is a member of the Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition and School Health Access Collaborative. Dr. Raviv holds a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University, a Master of Arts in Child Clinical Psychology from University of Denver, and a PhD in clinical psychology from University of Denver.
This workshop is funded by a SAMSHA grant through the Illinois State Board of Education. Partners include WEST 40 Intermediate Service Center, Lurie's Children Hospital, Stress and Trauma Treatment Center and Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action, Inc and evaluated by Goshen Consulting.
