If you/ your community is interested in being a part of a network of welcome for migrants resettling in Colorado, please fill out this form. Our siblings in El Paso, reached out to ask us to do our part in welcoming and supporting people being released at the border. It's our turn to respond and bring our share of folks so Annunciation House and the receiving network at the border can sustain their good work. In addition to families like those we accompanied in 2019, many of the people being received right now are first generation in the US. They do not have a community of loved ones in the US who can receive them. For that reason, we are preparing to stand-up short-term shelter for those traveling on and mid to long term community for people who will stay in Colorado.
We are already settling families and couples that have arrived here. We may also receive a bus 1-4 times a month as the numbers of people Border Patrol has contact with increase and decrease. We believe welcoming will become a way of life on an ongoing basis here in Colorado. Thank you for sharing in the welcoming!
