Student Idea Showcase
TEDxUGA will be back on March 27th, 2020, and we want you there, but not just in the audience. We are looking for innovators, leaders, thinkers and doers to take the stage. We are looking for students with BIG ideas!

The TEDxUGA Student Council will host the Student Idea Showcase on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 at 7:00pm. Currently enrolled students at the University of Georgia have the chance to enter the showcase and have a TED-like experience as they share their own "idea worth spreading." From this group of students, a select number will be chosen to present on the TEDxUGA stage in March 2020.

Showcase applications are due MONDAY, September 30th, 2019 at 11:59pm. Before beginning this application, please note that this application requires you to submit a 2 minute video explaining your idea. Finalists will be asked to participate in a short interview during the week of October 1.

For more information about the showcase and application, please attend one of our information sessions in Journalism 411, located in the New Media Institute:

- Thursday, 9/12 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
- Tuesday, 9/17 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
- Friday, 9/20 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
- Wednesday, 9/25 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

If you have questions about the showcase or application, visit www.TEDxUGA.com or email us at TEDxUGA@uga.edu.

As you think about your application, please remember that we are looking for big ideas. What’s a big idea? Big ideas convey a presenter’s unique point of view on a topic and convey a clear “what’s at stake” for those who do or do not adopt that point of view. Ideas are not just topics, questions, predictions, facts, opinions, stories, motivations, or advice alone.

What we are looking for:
- A unique idea and/or perspective
- Experience or demonstrated interest with your idea
- A reason people should listen to your idea
- A call to action for the audience

Thanks for applying and we look forward to hearing your idea!
