Job Summary
Together Louisiana is looking for a Data Manager to organize the back-end of a statewide canvassing drive to increase access to healthcare and identifying neighborhood-level priorities for community action. The position involves working closely with the voter database (VAN ID), coordinating with canvassers, and overseeing the data entry process. The Data Manager is responsible for generating and managing outreach lists, cutting turf, creating digital surveys, managing data quality and analyzing results. Technically, the main requirement is an advanced knowledge of Excel. The position requires creativity, a strategic mind, attention to detail and effective communication abilities.

Data Manager Responsibilities
Outreach and Voter Database Management:
- Matching contact lists to a voter database (VAN) for outreach campaigns. Determine the necessary number of data matching points to confirm identity accurately.
- Create lists for canvassers and convert them into the required formats (Excel or CSV) for upload into a canvasser distribution program.
- Create accounts for canvassers and provide user support as needed.
- Assist with turf cutting (allocating specific geographic areas to canvassers) using existing tools.
- Collaborate with canvassers to develop contingency plans and problem-solving strategies when issues arise.
Survey Data Management:
- Collect survey data from canvassers, mostly in digital format using platforms like Google Forms.
- Coordinate with a contracted data entry firm, providing scanned documents and data entry forms.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry by the contracted firm.
- Compile and clean data from various sources to make it usable and reportable.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Produce reports based on different geographies and specified criteria.
- Run reports using Excel, leveraging advanced functions like pivot tables and formulas.
- Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to outreach efforts.
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the team to determine the most relevant and impactful reports for decision-making purposes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of outreach activities and data management.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to data management and outreach processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in advanced Excel or database work.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookup, index and match formulas, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in database management, data analysis, and report generation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, resourceful and highly self-motivated.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data management and report generation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with canvassers, data entry contractors, and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt the schedule based on project needs.
- Experience in data visualization tools like Tableau is desirable.
Contract Details
This position is a long-term contract for 15 months, with the possibility of conversion to a salaried position. The selected candidate will work 20 hours per week initially, with potential for expansion into a full-time role based on performance and project requirements. While this role is not primarily office-based, it does requires candidates to reside in or near New Orleans, LA. Compensation commensurate with experience.
