Mark was an avid runner and would often go up onto the moors plugged into his music which was turned up loud and have a mini rave as he ran, he called them his rave runs!

Mark lost his short battle against cancer in March 2023, this event is about keeping his memory & spirit alive and to also raise funds for some charities which were close to his heart or who helped us and the family during his battle.

Mark had planned to stream a DJ set in late 2023, he’d selected his playlist & it was all ready to go but he was too poorly. Matt, one of Mark’s close friends, has taken his playlist and kindly mixed it for this event. 

What can you expect? 
This is not a timed race, it’s about getting out & having fun! On the day, you will be given a ’race’ number (this so we know when everyone is safely back) along with a glow stick - please feel free to dress in any rave attire!! 
Pre registration is required as we will issue a link to the playlist for you to download in advance of the day.
Once you have completed your selected course, you will be given a beer (alcoholic and AF will be available), although we do ask you to take these home to enjoy and support the pub should you want a drink afterwards.

You will need to bring earphones or a small portable speaker.

Dogs are welcome but they MUST be kept on the lead (regardless of their recall).

There will be marshals out on the course and back markers to make sure no one gets lost.

Where & when?
Registration will be at the Shoulder of Mutton (BL8 4LZ) from 6pm ready to start at 7pm. 
Parking is limited and will not available at the Shoulder. Therefore, please walk to the start if you’re local, think of it as a nice warm up ;0) / car share where possible & use the car park on Lumb Carr Road (BL8 4NN)

There are 3 options;
  1. 7.5km fell run
  2. 3km walk 
  3. Virtual - appreciate not everyone will be able to make it in person so you can still register for the playlist to create your own rave as and when.
In person, running or walking, is £7.50 per person or £5 for the virtual option (no glow sticks/ beer will be provided under this option).
Children are welcome and are free but must be accompanied, neither route is pram friendly. 
A minimum £5 from each entry will be divided equally between the charities.

1. The Christie – where Mark went for treatment and where we spent a lot of time during his 5 month battle
2. Macmillan – who helped support us through Mark’s journey and my cancer journey back in 2015
3. Little Troopers – a charity supporting children who have a parent/s in the British military. This charity was founded by Mark’s sister, Louise, and who Mark proudly supported
4. Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue – Mark was a team member for a number of years
5. Maggie’s – who provided support to all of Mark’s family during his journey
