Join us for a celebration at the Folsom Powerhouse SHP to kickoff California Biodiversity Week, which runs from Saturday, September 5th, until Sunday, September 13th (nine whole days of events, learning, and community!)
At this kickoff event, you can learn more about the many ways you can preserve California’s biodiversity, as well as helping the movement yourself! To start, you’ll get to meet with local community and nature groups, who will be tabling to share about their work and expertise with nature, ecology, and public service.
After this exciting meetup, we’ll break into groups to embark on a biodiversity walk (also known as a bioblitz) to observe the various plant and animal species around our park. We will be utilizing the iNaturalist app to track what we observe and help scientists learn more about the ecology of our park. We will teach you how to use this free app at the beginning of the day, please download iNaturalist and sign up for an account before the event. This event is open to all ages, but please leave your canine companions at home.
To RSVP fill out the form below and you will receive a confirmation email within a few days. You will receive a reminder email a few days before the event that will include information about meeting location, how to prepare, and any other final details. If you need to cancel your RSVP please let us know ASAP as this will allow others the opportunity to join the event.
