This agreement is between GDGBA and the above youth & parent. Since the above is a youth under
the age of 18 years old, the parent must give legal permission for GDGBA to use the youth’s name &
photos in promotional materials for GDGBA publication. These publications include: newsletter, or
any printed material, website and social media. The undersigned youth and parent or legal guardian have read the terms of the participation
agreement and will abide by the enclosed terms. The terms are as follows:
1. The point system & point shows.
a. 2024 Shows included in the point system are: GDGBA Spring Show, Evin Evans Show, Gwinnett County Fair Open Dairy Goat Show, Georgia National Fair Open Dairy Goat Show and Ghosts and Goats Show.
b. The point system is as follows:
Showmanship:
1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 5 points
4th place: 3 points
5th place: 1 point
Breed Age Classes:
1st place: 6 points
2nd place: 5 points
3rd place: 4 points
4th place: 3 points
5th place: 2 points
6th place 1 point
2. Youth will be required to have a paid Youth membership with GDGBA
before any show they wish to have points counted. Family memberships do not count. Any youth
may join and participate in point accumulation.
3. Youth will have to own the goats shown OR have a lease agreement with the Lessee prior to the show submitted to gdgbayouth@gmail.com.
4. Goats shown MUST be listed under the youth name, not the parent’s name or farm
name to earn points.
5. Only 1 goat per age group, per breed would be considered. (Example: Lawrence can show 4
does registered in her name in the same class, but has to choose the 1 goat that will be the point
goat.) The youth MUST show their point goat in the class.
6. If a named goat becomes ill, or cannot compete for another reason, the Youth/Parent must
send an email to the GDGBA YOUTH email(gdgbayouth@gmail.com) 30 minutes prior to the
start of the show.
7. Youth must enter their goats in their own name. At check-in, please indicate you are a
participant in the Kay C. James Youth Program.
8. HOW POINTS ARE GIVEN
a. In all classes with youth indicated entries, all entries will be judged to the end of
the class.
b. From the ring steward sheets, the point keeper will take the highest youth placing
in the class and place them 1st, and so on.
c. The Youth can choose up to 3 different goats to earn points on. These goats must
be in different age groups. These 3 goats can be different breeds.
9. Youth Year End Awards will be awarded in December at the GDGBA Christmas Lunch or the January Milk Test Meeting. You do not have to be present to receive an award.
