Fernley Depot Community Campus Public Input
Background: In 2017, the City of Fernley purchased approximately 8.5 acres of land surrounding the historic Depot on Main Street. The purchase was made with funds raised with the Transient Lodging Tax (TLT) charged to hotel rooms purchased in Fernley. This money was earmarked for the development and construction of a "Convention Center" and other projects supporting tourism in our City. The idea is that the money raised through hotels would come back to benefit hotels in increased future business. Public officials have supported the concept of creating a "Community Center" on this land, which would still function as a Convention Center but also benefit our own citizens. The City of Fernley and Fernley Community Foundation are working together to solicit public input in determining what priorities are important for construction on this land. An agreement is already in place and funds available for the construction of a $6 million plus Lyon County Senior Center and Human Services Offices on a section of this land. Construction on this part of the project is set to begin in 2018. Please help us develop priorities for the rest of the land by filling out the survey below!
