Adler Planetarium Teen Programs: 8th Annual Operation Airlift: Volunteer Application
Now accepting applications for volunteers to join us for this year's Operation Airlift. This year's event will be held at The Rauner Family YMCA located at 2700 S Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60608., Saturday, December 7th, 2019,
10:00a – 4:00p. * Volunteers should plan to arrive by 8:00a

What is Operation Airlift? 
Operation Airlift is an engineering design competition that encourages enthusiasm in our city’s youth about STEM learning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and discovery. Over 150 youth  from Chicagoland schools and youth-serving organizations bring their STEM game to participate in this dynamic competition by designing and building the best possible remote-controlled airship. We’re calling on adult volunteers to support and celebrate these young designers as they rise to the challenge!  

To apply you must:
•    Enjoy working in collaboration with young people ages 11-18.
•    Submit completed background check form by end of day  November 15, 2019.
(Documents will be provided upon acceptance of volunteer application)
•    Be available to attend a mandatory orientation session.

Two orientation date options available.
* Wednesday, Nov. 20th - 5:30p- 8:00p
* Saturday, Nov. 23rd - 2:00p-4:30p

Volunteer positions include but are not limited to:

* Youth Team Mentor
* Event Day Registration
* Event Set Up
* Launch Pad Crew
* Lunch Service
* Supply Depot
* Presentation Judge
* Event break-down and clean up
