About the Summit
 

The RBM Summit is an intensive one-day learning event taking place on May 18, 2027, developed to support the results community of practice. A collaborative initiative between the Performance and Planning Exchange (PPX) and the University of Ottawa’s Centre on Governance, the Summit brings together government, industry, and academic insights to advance Results-Based Management (RBM) across the evolving public sector landscape. The event gathers practitioners and experts specializing in strategic planning, risk management, performance measurement, monitoring, evaluation, auditing, and public reporting to exchange ideas and best practices.

Who Attends 

The Summit offers both in-person and online participation options for a national and global audience. Attendees include practitioners and leadership from public sector institutions, all levels of government, private enterprises, think tanks, research institutes, and civil society organizations engaged in the results agenda.

Key Deadlines

  • Call for Presentations Opens: September 7, 2026

  • Proposal Submission Deadline: November 1, 2026

  • Notification of Acceptance: November 30, 2026

  • Final Presentation Submission: May 1, 2027

  • RBM Summit 2027 Event Date: May 18, 2027

Submission Guidelines

Presenter Terms & Responsibilities

  • Expenses: PPX does not cover travel, accommodation, or per diem expenses.

  • Complimentary Pass: Registration waivers are limited to the primary presenter per session.

  • Materials: Presenters are responsible for designing their slides, visual aids, and handout content. Final handouts must be submitted to PPX by May 1, 2027, so that PPX can handle all venue preparation and printing.

Presentation Formats & Time Allocations

  • Keynote Address (30–45 minutes): High-level strategic vision and foundational insights.

  • Panel / Plenary Discussion (60 minutes): Multi-speaker dialogue featuring diverse viewpoints.

  • Workshop (120 minutes): Interactive, practical consultations, case studies, or problem-solving sessions.

Thematic Streams 

Submissions should align with at least one of the following core streams:

  • Performance Measurement & Indicators: Designing robust metrics and frameworks for public value.

  • Strategic Planning & Risk Alignment: Integrating RBM into organizational decision-making and governance.

  • Data-Driven Evaluation & Innovation: Leveraging technology, analytics, and modern tools for evidence-based reporting.

  • Collaborative Governance & Public Sector Transformation: Cross-sectoral initiatives, community partnerships, and practical case studies.

Evaluation Criteria 

Submissions will be assessed based on four core criteria:

  • Relevance: Direct alignment with a thematic stream and the core goals of the RBM Summit.

  • Impact: Potential to advance understanding, policy, or practice across institutional boundaries.

  • Reach: Accessibility and inclusivity of presentation methods for a diverse audience.

  • Collaboration: Inclusion of cross-sectoral perspectives, practitioner partners, or community voices.

Official Languages Presenters should anticipate audience questions in both official languages (English and French). Presenters are encouraged to respond in the language in which the question was asked. If additional language support is required, please notify PPX in advance so a Moderator can be assigned to assist.
