Fruit Tree Maintenance 101
Have you ever wondered about what you can do to get a great harvest from fruit trees in your garden? In this workshop we will cover the basics of maintaining healthy fruit trees year round with an emphasis on the current spring season. Topics covered will include pest management, pruning, use of amendments/fertilizers and best practices to maximize fruit production. Participants will have an opportunity to get hands on practice in assessing and caring for fruit trees in an on-site orchard on the school’s campus grounds. Hand pruners will be provided to participants from registered garden groups– distribution will be limited to one pair per garden group. In partnership with Bronx Green-Up/The New York Botanical Garden and Grow to Learn.
