On behalf of co-hosts Fordham University School of Law and Cardozo School of Law, we are pleased to invite you to judge the 2023 TYLA National Trial Competition, New York Regional.
The competition will take place on Friday, February 10, 2017, through Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Manhattan Criminal Court located at 100 Centre Street, New York, New York.
Twenty-seven teams of law students from the New York area will try a mock civil trial between a cattle farm and a power company. These student advocates will deliver opening statements, closing arguments, examine witnesses, introduce evidence, and make evidentiary arguments. The competition promotes excellence in advocacy, while allowing students to supplement their legal training by honing their trial skills.
We are asking experienced practitioners, judges, and academics who are available and willing to judge the competition to fill out their information below.
Having a diverse and established group of lawyers to judge the advocates will enhance the quality of this tournament. The time commitment required of judges is minimal; each round lasts only a few hours and pre-round preparation will only require that you read the problem.
Practitioners who judge the competition are also eligible to receive CLE credits.
