SURVEY TO ASSESS THE NEED FOR INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SHARING INFESTED SEED LOTS FOR TEST DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION
Access to infected plant materials and seeds with specified characteristics is crucial for research projects, validation and verification of detection methods, proficiency tests or routine use in laboratories. Access to such seed lots is difficult due to phytosanitary requirements and the lack of a network to link the different actors involved in seed testing.
In the frame of the EUPHRESCO project “INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SHARING INFESTED SEED LOTS FOR TEST DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION”, we would like to create a network among stakeholders (researchers, breeders, nursery operators, seed bank, seed producers) to provide access and worldwide supply of seed infested/infected
and seed certified disease-
free for interested parties, such as National Plant Protection Organizations, research laboratories, universities, seed health laboratories, seed producers. The project will include as many plant species as possible and various pests (e.g., invertebrates, viruses, viroids, bacteria, fungi, and phytoplasma).
The final objective is to build a platform that manages request, access, and exchanges of seed lots. The following survey intends to gather information from a range of users for such material and providers from the seed sector for the availability of seed infested/infected and seed certified disease-free.
Your answer will be maintained confidential, and the information used only to design the next steps of the project.
The survey will take no more than 5 minutes.
