In February 2022, a subcommittee of IEN's Net Zero Endowments Initiative developed the paper  "Leading with Justice: Net Zero Investing & Conversations on Climate Justice."  This seminal work highlighted the importance of centering justice, equity, and community voices in the transition to a net-zero economy.  Building on the momentum of this paper, we're taking the next step in exploring the critical role of allocators in advancing climate justice.

The Climate Justice Taskforce: Taking it to the Next Level
The Climate Justice Taskforce, a collaboration between IEN's Net Zero Endowments and JEDI Initiatives, is dedicated to deepening our understanding of climate justice and its practical applications in the investment community. Our goal is to create a series of comprehensive resources that empower allocators to make a meaningful impact on climate justice through their investments.

1. Climate Justice as a Solution - Focus on how integrating climate justice as a framework can be an empowering method of risk mitigation for investors.

2. Centering Capacity the Building of Frontline Communities for Collaborative Climate Action - Focus on frontline community engagement, microfinance, infrastructure, and community-based climate solutions.

3. Mission-Aligned Investing Through Global Lenses for Systemic Change - Focus on stewardship, proxy voting, and mission alignment, as well as impact through emerging markets (which overlap which frontline communities).

4. Cultivating Inclusive Prosperity & Harvesting Equity - Focus on the representation and advancing financial growth of BIPOC focused organizations (such as Minority Serving Institutions - HBCUs, HSIs, etc) & frontline communities (regenerative agriculture & green jobs).

5. Leveraging Capital to Address Health Disparities & Promote Environmental Justice - Focus on how climate change is a public health concern and how investors can use their capital to catalyze beneficial change.
