Prospective Steering & Envisioning Committee (SEC) Member Application
The NYC Nutrition Education Network (NYCNEN) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to educating, supporting and engaging a network of members who seek to improve the food and nutrition environment for a healthier New York City. Steering & Envisioning Committee (SEC) Members are the volunteers who serve as the leadership team for NYCNEN and take responsibility for the ongoing administration and development of the organization.
The purpose of this application is to identify potential candidates who are interested in becoming a new SEC Member. Candidates should be willing and able to contribute to the sustainability of the organization by serving a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years.

Applicants interested in joining the Steering & Envisioning Committee should (1) review the expectations of SEC Members below, (2) currently hold an active NYCNEN membership and (3) submit a completed application before March 29, 2019.

SEC Member Expectations
NYCNEN SEC Member expectations include the following:

- Support NYCNEN’s Mission & Values.

- Work as a part of a cohesive team with common goals.

- Dedicate time to NYCNEN and its meetings, which includes but is not limited to:
- 5 general meetings (generally 1 evening event & 4 on Friday from 8am-12pm)
- 1 full-day retreat (usually held on Friday in July/August)
- 5-6 SEC meetings (typically held bimonthly for 2 hours on a Friday morning)

- Actively planning one general NYCNEN meeting with partnered SEC member(s)

- Maintain active membership in NYCNEN.

- Have no more than three (3) absences from board meetings and/or activities.

- Actively engage individuals/organizations to attend NYCNEN meetings & become members

- Share his/her skills and expertise.

- Respect and support the majority decisions of the Committee.

- Volunteer and assist during NYCNEN general meetings & official events

- Participate actively in SEC meetings, actions, fundraisers and public events.

- Remain aware of the activities that are planned and make yourself available to participate.

- Declare conflicts of interest as it pertains to your position on the Committee and abstain from voting when appropriate.

- Submit a biography and headshot to be posted on the website.

- Do your best to ensure that the NYC Nutrition Education Network is well-maintained, financially secure, growing and always operating in the best interest of its members.
