Medical Debt Story Form
Patients need peace of mind that they will be able to heal without medical debt.

Are you one of the thousands of North Carolinians who is facing medical bills you can’t pay? You are not alone. Join us in protecting everyday North Carolinians from medical debt by sharing your story or signing up to be a superstar advocate.

Sharing personal stories about how policies are harming everyday North Carolinians is one of the most powerful tools we have to make real change. Storyteller advocates were at the center of our successful campaign to finally expand health coverage for over 600,000 people across our state. Now we are taking on medical debt and we need your help!

North Carolina has the 4th highest percentage of people in medical debt in the country. A staggering 1 in 5 families in NC have been in collections. This is a systemic problem that we can address working together.

Please consider working with our team to become a storyteller advocate. Start by filling out the form below and tell us a little about your situation, then our Health Policy Advocate, Rebecca Cerese will contact you and discuss the options for getting involved. You can also contact Rebecca directly with your story at rebecca@ncjustice.org

Become a Superstar Advocate

It took 10 years of hard work from advocates and community members to make Medicaid expansion a reality but starting December 1, 600,000 North Carolinians will have the ability to get health coverage that couldn't before. Strategic and creative advocacy works! There are still many health-related issues that we need to work on.
