Writing Across the Curriculum Training for New Communication-B TAs, UW-Madison, January 2021
Every semester, the Writing Across the Curriculum program at UW-Madison offers a required training for TAs from across campus who are teaching their first Communication-B course:
- Tuesday, January 19, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
- Wednesday, January 20, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
In addition, there will be an asynchronous module to complete before the training begins as well as a brief asynchronous module to complete by week 6 in the semester.

designing effective writing and speaking assignments
supporting peer review
communicating clearly with students about your expectations for writing and speaking assignments
conferencing with students (meeting individually with students to discuss their papers), which is a required part of communication-b courses
motivating students to do substantial revisions of their papers
helping multilingual (ESL) writers succeed in your course
responding to and evaluating student writing (using online tools)
