Representative Jim O'Day and Senator Patricia Jehlen will be re-filing An Act relative to assisting elders and people with disabilities in the Commonwealth. See House Bill 2077 and Senate Bill 2039 from last session: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/190/H2077 and https://malegislature.gov/Bills/190/S2039
These bills seek to:
1. Enshrine in state statute the removal of the homelessness penalty for individuals experiencing homelessness. With our FY'19 budget victory, this change is in effect for this year.
2. Increase the EAEDC grant. which has not been increased since 1988.
3. Increase the allowable personal asset limit from $250 to $2,500.
4. Create an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) for EAEDC program participants.
