Apply to be a Innovation Student Staffer

Innovation student staffers work with the RJI Innovation Team on projects and experiments for journalism. Want to try new ways of engaging community or building revenue? Want to try tech, tools and storytelling methods outside the usual journalism structures? Then this may be the position for you.

1-2 students are hired each semester to help produce the web series Innovation in Focus each month. This involves creating journalism with news partners while integrating something innovative or experimental.

Past examples include integrating AR or helping a news partner succeed on TikTok. You’ll also help interview expert journalists and write tips/guides for local newsrooms to learn from your experiments.

Start Date: First week of classes

End Date: Last week of classes

- Paid hourly
