Thank you for your interest in contributing to the work of the Northeast Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA). Our standing committees play a vital role in advancing our mission and supporting our members.

Composition & Leadership: Each committee must have at least three (3) members and be led by a committee chair appointed by the Regional Chair, unless otherwise specified by the Constitution or Bylaws.

Eligibility: Any active and financial NEBLSA member may serve on applicable committees. Serving on a committee does not restrict participation in other aspects of NEBLSA unless explicitly stated in the Constitution or Bylaws.

** Note: Convention will be in the NY Metro region, students who are in the NY Metro Region are encouraged to join the Convention Committee.

Membership Committee: To grow, engage, and retain NEBLSA’s membership by fostering meaningful connections among law and pre-law students, promoting chapter development, and ensuring inclusive representation across the region.

Social Action Committee: To lead NEBLSA’s advocacy and civic engagement efforts by addressing social justice issues, mobilizing students around pressing legal and policy matters, and empowering members to be agents of change in their communities.

** Convention Committee: To plan and execute the annual NEBLSA Regional Convention, providing members with opportunities for academic enrichment, professional development, networking, advocacy, and celebration of Black excellence in the legal field.

Governance Committee: To uphold the integrity of NEBLSA’s governing documents and procedures by reviewing constitutional amendments, ensuring compliance, overseeing internal policy, and administering fair and transparent elections for regional leadership.

Law Student Success Committee: To support the academic and professional advancement of NEBLSA members through tailored programming, mentorship, and access to resources that foster excellence from law school admission to bar passage and beyond.

Finance Committee: To ensure NEBLSA’s financial health by overseeing budgeting, fiscal planning, and resource development while supporting fundraising efforts that advance the organization’s strategic priorities and sustainability.
