The MIT-SUTD Global Leadership Program (GLP) is looking for up to ten MIT students (preference given to undergrads completing their first or second year) to join 10 to 15 students from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) for ten weeks of intensive leadership training, design challenges, outdoor adventure, hands-on classes and intercultural exchange. Participants will start the program with the week-long Leadershape Institute, then spend the summer together at MIT working in teams on an exciting design challenge while also taking classes such as Ceramics and Globalization. Past design challenges have featured Electric Vehicles and Electric Water Vehicles, which students raced in the Charles! No matter what, participants will develop skills for designing and building. You’ll learn to work hands-on with programs and tools such as CAD, mill, lathe, 3D printers, and laser cutters.
There will also be a weekend wilderness trip where participants learn engineering principles through building camp stoves and exploring islands in Maine by kayak. Finally, participants will have time to relax and have fun through excursions in and around greater Boston.
GLP is FREE and includes MIT campus housing at Pi Phi and a generous food stipend. The program dates are June 4 through August 11. It is a full-time commitment so please only apply if you have no other major obligations during the program dates. Please submit your application and send your resume to Jesse DeLaughter at email@example.com by March 31, 2017.
