The Walking Challenge starts on Monday, March 29th and ends Sunday, May 2nd (5 weeks).
A group walk for Lynnfield Public Schools staff/educators is scheduled for Monday afternoons (first group walk is on March 29th). We will meet at 3:00pm at Lynnfield High School (meet outside at front entrance of LHS) and will walk for about 30 minutes (about 2 miles). If you would like to walk longer you are more than welcome to. This is to provide motivation, meet socially, and be together to do something fun and healthy!
How the walking challenge works:
1. Walk individually and/or join the LPS walking group on Mondays.
2. We will send out a weekly goal via email to try to reach. If you are already an avid walker and would like to create your own personal weekly goals, please do so and send them to me. Goal for Week 1 will be to walk 20,000 steps (that's 4,000 steps for 5 days or that's 5,000 steps for 4 days).
3. Log your step count daily. I will share a Google spreadsheet with those who register. Note: Your progress/step count will be public to those who are participating! Your self-tracking is on the "Honor System."
3. Once a week, take a snapshot of you and your step counter to verify your progress. Email the snapshot to me. Note: Photos will be used for friendly promotion throughout the program!
4. There will be awards for meeting/exceeding weekly goals and an award for the most number of steps in 5 weeks.
5. You are welcome to walk with your colleagues in your school community at self-directed time, or participate on your own time individually. However, we do hope you can join the program Group Walk on Mondays.
6. Most importantly, have fun!
Please email me with any additional questions.
