The goal of this workshop is to create a community of empowered bystanders who promote safety for everyone.
This interactive workshop brings everyone up to speed on consent and safer sex. Through inclusive activities and discussion, participants will explore what safer sex is and what it means for them, and explore the types of barriers and contraception available to them. Participants will learn to dispel common myths about sex and sexuality and feel more prepared to protect themselves and their partners. STI testing and other campus resources will be shared. 90 or 120 minute workshops can be customized to include in depth contraception, menstruation, and/or reproductive health education.
Beavs Believe (90 minutes)
The goal of this training is to create empathy and support for survivors, decrease victim blame on campus and learn to cultivate a safe and caring community at Oregon State. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to: Identify and describe what sexual violence is, evaluate the ways in which rape myths and victim blaming contribute to sexual violence, and employ useful skills to support a survivor.
Center for Advocacy, Prevention and Education (CAPE) Information and Resources (60 minutes)
This presentation will provide participants with information about campus and community resources available to survivors of interpersonal violence. It will describe the confidential advocacy services provided by the Center for Advocacy, Prevention and Education (CAPE) and allow participants to engage with a CAPE representative.
Providing a trauma-informed response to disclosures of sexual and/or intimate partner violence (60 or 90 minutes)
This workshop provides guidance and suggested language for navigating difficult and sensitive discussions with students who have entrusted you with a disclosure of violence. It will include helpful responses, language regarding your limits of confidentiality, and options for resources for your students. Additionally, this workshop will provide education on the impact of trauma so that you can provide an informed and helpful response to disclosures of violence.
Gender-Based Violence Prevention Training for Faculty & Staff (60 or 90 minutes)
This workshop covers Sexual Violence Prevention services as well as CAPE Advocacy services. We can customize this training to meet the needs of your team and work within your timeframe. In these sessions we most often cover: What resources are available for support, training, and education through CAPE, how can we help our students, and what can we do as campus leaders.
Receiving Disclosures & Trauma Informed Response Training for Faculty and Staff (60 or 90 minutes)
This workshop will provide an overview of how trauma impacts our responses, interactions and ability to engage with services and support. In this training you will learn about responding to someone who has experienced trauma and how to receive a disclosure regarding interpersonal & gender based violence. We will talk through what a compassionate interruption looks like regarding responsible employee roles, supporting students & colleagues through trauma & how to care for yourself in your role as a supporter.
