Getting the Instrument
Explain your instrument situation by selecting the best answer from below. Cello and bass students are expected to rent an instrument to be kept at home for home practice. The cello/bass students will be able to use the school cello or bass during the school day for class work. They will need to bring their home use cello or bass for the performances, however.

What do you want me to know about your child in order to teach her/him more effectively?
For instance, some children have trouble waiting to use the restroom when they realize they have to go. I have a special pass for that.Think about vision, special needs and other information that I might not notice right away.
About learning an instrument...
While many children experience great joy and minimal difficulty in the learning if the instrument, some struggle through the entire year for various reasons. Still, much can be gained in terms of character building and fortification of your child's ego. Parental support in the form of email notes, text messages, phone calls to me is welcomed. I usually reply within 24 hours.

Important Understandings for Parents and Students
Please, remember that Instrumental Music lessons are a PULL-OUT class in elementary school. Grades are in SchoolMax. There is a report card grade issued every grade period, and there are Interim Progress Reports given each grade period. The grade is based on attendance, classwork, assessments, performances, bringing supplies every time, and taking the instrument home each day for home practice. Additionally, students are expected to practice a minimum of 15 days per month at home on the assigned homework.
