Thank you for your service to our SFUSD Students and Families!
As part of the strategy to focus efforts on equitable services for Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander students and staff, SFUSD’s Access & Equity Department in partnership with Human Resources and the Office of Supt (Fa’aSamoa Initiative) are hosting an event entitled: Soso’o Le ‘Afa, Connecting the Sinnet for all of our NH&PI Employees and Partners working with our SFUSD students in the district.
‘Afa in Sāmoan is the strongest cord, made out of fibers from the coconut husk, and is what we use in our daily lives, i.e. constructing houses, tools, and so forth. It is also a metaphoric term used to bind all or any resources for the betterment of families and villages. Soso’o is connecting these cords so when bonded together, it will become stronger than any rope known to anyone. This in part, is embedded within most Pacific Islanders as values that nurture and cultivate our cultural, spiritual and traditional beliefs.
This event will include networking and meeting with many Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander employees across all classifications, and Community Based Organizations and Afterschool Programs serving our students as well! Agenda will be shared with participants closer to event date!
Deadline to RSVP for this event is Wednesday, September 27th!
