This questionnaire is part of the European research project VIABLE, funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme. The project aims to develop bio-based epoxy resins derived from lignin, a component of plant biomass (such as wood or agricultural residues). These new resins are intended to partially replace conventional epoxy resins based on bisphenol A (BPA), a substance widely recognized as an endocrine disruptor, and to be used in composite parts for the automotive industry.
Within the project, several industrial and research partners are working together to explore the feasibility of this new value chain, from biomass processing to the manufacturing and recycling of composite materials.
As part of the project, APESA is conducting a Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA) to better understand the potential social impacts associated with this type of industrial value chain (employment, working conditions, supply chains, territorial impacts, etc.). This assessment looks at the different actors involved in the life cycle of such materials, including biomass suppliers, chemical producers, material manufacturers, automotive suppliers, and recycling actors.
You may have received this questionnaire even if you are not directly involved in the VIABLE project. The purpose is to gather feedback from companies and organizations whose activities are similar or related to those involved in this type of value chain (for example: biomass processing, chemical production, polymer or composite manufacturing, automotive supply chains, or recycling activities).
The following questions therefore aim to better understand current practices and social considerations within these sectors. If your organization operates in activities related to these domains, your responses will help identify key social issues and good practices associated with the development of bio-based materials and emerging bioeconomy value chains.
