As part of our efforts and objectives to promote women development and create opportunities for learning and mentoring for young women in Nigeria, Idea Builders is partnering with the Vital Voices Global Partnership to lead the 2018 Women Mentoring Women Walk in Nigeria.
The Global Mentoring Walk is an opportunity to highlight the importance of women’s leadership, and to accelerate the impact of women leaders through mentoring. Organized by outstanding local leaders who are key members of the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network, the annual Mentoring Walk brings together established women leaders and emerging women leaders to walk together in their community. As they walk, they discuss their professional challenges and successes and establish a mentoring relationship in which the seasoned leader guides, advises and supports her peer.
Held on the same day in countries across the world, the Mentoring Walk unifies the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network. This year’s walk will be held Saturday, March 10th, 2018 to celebrate International Women’s Day.
This year walks will be held across Nigeria in multi-city walks including Calabar, Lagos (Island).

Remember, mentoring not only helps the Mentee achieve her goals, but it is also a great experience. Signing-up as a Mentee requires a significant commitment of time and energy, and it involves a mentor‘s time too. But it is always a new and enriching experience for both, with the added benefit of gaining something difficult to achieve in other ways.
Mentees should have a specific interest in either Civic leadership, Technology, Business, Education, Arts and Creative Arts, Fashion & Beauty, Development, or other professions. Mentees are responsible for their learning and are required to make the most of the opportunity provided to gain new knowledge.
Mentors should be able to assist mentees in mastering additional skills and/or gaining knowledge or abilities in specific areas, thereby enhancing the mentees‘ prospects for success.
Remember, mentoring not only helps the Mentee, but it gives the Mentor valuable experience too. Volunteering as a Mentor requires a commitment of time, resources and energy, but it is often a new and interesting experience with the added benefit of helping others.
