January 23, 2015:

THIS SITE IS NOW COMPLETELY FULL. CHICAGO LIGHTS Elam Davies Social Service Center: On Friday, January 23rd from 9:30am to 11am. Help unload food and stock its food pantry shelves.

January 24, 2015:

Little Brothers/Friends of the Elderly: On Saturday, January 24th from 10am to 4pm. Volunteers will help serve and socialize at a luncheon celebration for the elderly clients. Transportation and lunch will be provided.

Ladder Up (formerly the Tax Assistance Program): On Saturday, January 24th from 10am to 2pm. Help low-income families receive much needed tax assistance. Ladder Up will train interested volunteers at the law school in RB 175. Learn more about this volunteer opportunity at an Information session in RB 140 on Wednesday, January 14th from 12-1pm.

LiveHelp, Illinois Legal Aid Online’s Chat Service: On Saturday, January 24th from 10am-12pm. Designed to expand legal services by assisting website visitors to obtain legal information when they cannot find or afford a lawyer. Volunteers can complete their shift from any computer with Internet access, making this a flexible volunteer opportunity for busy law students. Illinois Legal Aid Online will train interested volunteers at the law school in RB 180.

Court Watch Project of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network. On Saturday, January 24th from 9am to 5pm. Court Watch volunteers observe domestic violence related court cases and record significant data and observations, which will be used to track important trends in the court’s response to domestic violence. Training will be held at 555 West Harrison. To volunteer, email courtwatch@batteredwomensnetwork.org.

Chicago Bar Association’s Wills for Heroes Program. On Saturday, January 24th from 8:30 am-2pm. Wills for Heroes provides essential legal documents free of charge to our nation’s first responders, including wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. Law student volunteers will partner with attorneys during the document preparation phase of the program and can also serve as witnesses during the execution of the documents. The volunteer session will be held at Chicago Police Headquarters.
