Beloved – A Program for Married Couples
Does Marriage Matter? In our throw away culture, this is a relevant conversation. Long before cultures or governments ever discussed marriage, God placed on the human heart a longing for the unique, lifelong commitment, and total self-giving love found in the Sacrament of Matrimony. What does God's design mean for us in our daily lives together? A remarkable assembly of experts shows us the answer. This study is for every married couple, whether your marriage is great, good, not so good, old or new or somewhere in between. And if your spouse won’t come with you...that’s ok too.
Saints for Catholic Moms
Moms can sometimes face some difficult times. Join Catholic mom’s coach, Lisa Hendey, as she links personal stories, scripture, prayer, and simple soul-strengthening exercises into this rich spiritual resource for Catholic women. Over Lent, the group will study one saint per week to offer companionship and guidance for the challenging, often under-thanked vocation of Catholic motherhood. Find, and share, practical, spiritually rich action steps that help moms incorporate the wisdom and exemplary faith of each saint. Two groups, one meeting Monday mornings, the second meeting Friday mornings. Both groups meet at the respective facilitator’s home or as agreed by participants..
Lectio divina for Lent
Using the upcoming Sunday gospel and other readings, explore what God is saying to you and what He is calling you to do. Lectio involves hearing the reading, listening for a word or phrase that stands out, hearing the reading a couple more times and then responding to what you hear God saying to you through that reading and what the reading calls you to do. Groups meeting throughout the week at various times – check online or the paper registration forms at the Gathering Area Welcome Center.
The Mass – Understanding the Encounter
The Mass is "the source and summit of the Christian life." Fan the flame for this most Holy Sacrifice and the fundamental elements of our Faith, by exploring God’s plan for this sacred liturgy - foretold in the Old Testament and fulfilled in Christ. Then, learn how to truly pray the Mass, the central core of our Faith around which all else revolves. The group will be using various video clips in this six week series to help understand, appreciate and better participate in the Mass.
Contemplative Prayer
“Be still and know that I am God” —Psalm 46:10 Feel the presence of God within you when you open your mind and heart through Contemplative Prayer. The group will be using the Lent and Holy Week edition of the “Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton” series. This series is designed to “gently lead participants on a journey toward spiritual transformation and a more contemplative and peace-filled life.” Each week is built around one of eight Lenten themes. You do not need to have any prior experience with contemplative prayer to join. Bring the message of the Gospel into your daily life while restoring your mind, body and soul. (NOTE: This group will start its Lenten session Saturday March 9)
