The application deadline is Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Class size is limited. Each application will be reviewed by the New Class Committee to evaluate the applicant’s dedication to the Texas Master Naturalist mission and commitment to volunteer service. Strong applicants are those who express a commitment to stewardship of our natural resources; a willingness to contribute their time to volunteer service; and a desire to complete the course work, homework, and field trips.

Classes every Thursday night for 12 weeks *
I will be available for the classes every Thursday evening beginning August 30, 2018. I understand that, other than one class which may be missed without penalty, I am required to attend all other scheduled classes in order to attain initial certification. Make-up classes are sometimes, but not always, available. I understand reading and homework assignments are to be completed between each class meeting.
Three required Field Trips *
I understand that I am required to attend three field trips, one in each category of Forest, Aquatics and Prairie, in order to attain initial certification. Field trips are usually scheduled on Saturdays but may also be scheduled on Sunday. Make-up field trips are sometimes, but not always, available.
Volunteer Service and Advanced Training *
I understand that, in addition to classes and field trips, I am required to complete 40 hours of approved volunteer service and 8 approved advanced training hours by December 31, 2019, in order to attain initial certification. Each year, after initial certification, an additional 40 volunteer hours and 8 advanced training hours will be required to maintain certification.
Liability Waiver, Code of Ethics, Standards of Conduct, and Background check, requiring disclosure of my Social Security Number *
I understand that membership in the Master Naturalist program is contingent upon passing a background check in order to protect the safety of our youth and adults. Online forms for Background Check Authorization, Liability Waiver, and acknowledgement of Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct must be completed before class begins. Volunteer service cannot commence until background check is completed.
Class fee of $180.00 *
Upon acceptance in the class, I agree to pay the class fee of $180.00, by PayPal due by July 30, 2018. Scholarships are available. Additional information will be provided upon acceptance.
