About the Center for Humane Technology
Launched in 2018 by world-renowned former Google design ethicist Tristan Harris and deeply concerned tech ex-insiders, the Center for Humane Technology (CHT) is an independent nonprofit organization based in San Francisco whose mission is to reverse human downgrading and realign technology with humanity.

Today’s tech platforms are caught in a race to the bottom of the brain stem to extract human attention. It’s a race we’re all losing. The result: addiction, social isolation, outrage, misinformation, and political polarization—all part of one interconnected system called ​human downgrading.

We envision a world where technology supports our shared well-being, sense-making, democracy, and ability to tackle complex global challenges. CHT’s ultimate aim is to drive a comprehensive shift in product development, business models, policies, and governance structures toward Humane Technology by changing the way technologists think about their work and how they build products.

We use a combination of thought leadership, media and policy pressure, and product inspiration to create market demand and momentum for Humane Technology. We raise awareness for millions of people while advising and mobilizing tech companies, top executives, investors, technologists, and political leaders.

Position Summary
As a key member of our mobilization team reporting to our Head of Mobilization, our Mobilization Program Manager will support our efforts to build an activated and powerful network of influential technologists who are committed to changing how technologists throughout the industry think about their work and build products.

Our Mobilization Program Manager will accomplish this by 1) working closely with our advocacy and communications team on social impact campaigns aimed at providing pathways for concerned technologists to get involved with CHT and take action within their companies, and 2) deepening connections with new and existing networks of influential technologists and providing tools and support to help them advocate for culture and product change.

In the upcoming year, CHT’s mobilization work will be grounded in our recently released Principles for Humane Technology, which provide a roadmap for changing mindset, values, and ultimately products across the tech industry. We will host virtual and in-person gatherings, workshops, and closed door convenings that will culminate in CHT’s Humane Technology Summit scheduled for June 2020. These initiatives will support technologists in identifying pivotal cultural change initiatives within their companies, help them champion these initiatives within their companies, and provide strategic connections and resources to ensure that the change initiatives create lasting impact.
