CFW Volunteer Application 2025
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Center for Wildlife! Volunteers are the backbone of our organization, providing valuable care to our wildlife patients, wild animal ambassadors, connecting community members to the natural world, and supporting our team so that together, we can achieve our mission of a sustainable future for all. There are many ways to contribute to conservation, and we are grateful for your support!

Please complete each of the fields below. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

All volunteer opportunities at CFW are no-experience-required. If you want to learn, we want to teach you! That said, please keep in mind that our volunteer roles are very competitive. Take your time and answer the questions completely.

Applications are reviewed weekly. The Volunteer and Intern Coordinator will contact you regarding the status of your application within 5-7 business days.

Do you have any relevant degrees, certifications, or licenses? *
What relevant abilities, skills, or attributes might you be able to offer as a volunteer?

This could include prior experience with wildlife care, domestic animal care, other volunteer experiences, public speaking or teaching, technical skills, use of power tools, or even particular enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
Animals (and people!) are very messy, and they have very specific dietary needs! Are you comfortable cleaning messes, handling raw foods/whole proteins, and following protocols for keeping the area clean and safe?

Also, please describe a time you had to follow a protocol for health and safety. This can be for humans, animals, or in your professional life.
*
Even if you've worked or volunteered with animals before, volunteering with wildlife, outdoors, in education programs, or just at a new facility can be a learning curve!

Please describe a time you learned a brand new skill. Are you comfortable asking for help and using resources?
*
Credentials are great, but commitment and dedication are even more impressive! Our team puts a lot of time and effort into ensuring all volunteers are comfortable and confident in the care they provide and the tasks they do. Because of that investment, we ask that volunteers be prepared to commit to at least 100 hours of volunteer work over their agreed upon regular shift. Will you be able to complete this minimum requirement?

At base, volunteer shifts are 4 hours per week, once per week. 100 hours is approximately 6 months. Some accommodations can be made for pre-existing commitments, students, and illness.
*
It is very important that our volunteers be reliable and punctual, both for animal care and programming. Do you have your own, reliable transportation to the Center for Wildlife?

Note: our facility is not in range for any car services.
*
Due to the volume of applicants and seasonal dynamics of work with wildlife, our volunteers onboard in groups. The exact size and timing of onboarding is dependent on current caseload and staff availability.

Part of onboarding is orientation. Orientation is mandatory, and are usually on Sunday afternoons or evenings. Can you commit to attending mandatory orientation given at least 2 weeks of notice?
*
Have you had a tetanus shot within the last 10 years?
