VETcert examination
The Ancient Tree Forum and the Arboricultural Association would like to hear from professionals interested in helping us improve the examination procedure for the accreditation scheme. Pilot exams will be run on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 May at Hatfield Forest, Essex. Exams will be run for both the practising and consulting level.

Desirable Criteria

We invite people to apply for a free examination on the above dates. We are particularly interested to hear from professionals who:

• Can provide constructive feedback to help refine the examination process;
• Are representatives of relevant national organisations;
• Can act as ‘ambassadors’ of VETcert, to help promote the scheme;
• Have experience in examining/ assessing and an interest in becoming a VETcert examiner for the scheme;
• Come from different geographical areas in UK and Ireland.

The examination will test candidates’ skills against the Veteran Tree Management Standards on the VETcert website and will involve:

• For practising level – a written exam paper and an outdoor examination with oral questions. The examination will not require candidates to demonstrate climbing or veteran tree management in practice. In advance of the exam date candidates will be required to prepare a portfoilio of work to be discussed during the exam.
• For consulting level – a written exam paper, an outdoor examination with oral questions and the production of a veteran tree management report.
