We have some bittersweet news to share: Zoomies has officially closed its doors.
When we started the program, our goal was to provide support to struggling dog owners during the COVID-19 pandemic. For over two years, we had the honour of assisting dog owners across Ontario with the help of our incredible team of volunteers. Now that the worst of the pandemic is behind us, it is time for us to retire the project.
If you are looking for related volunteer opportunities, may we recommend checking out the following organizations:
- ElderDog - ElderDog provides long-term dog-centric support to seniors. They are well-established across Canada and are always looking for new volunteers. elderdog.ca
- Your local Humane Society or OSCPA branch. Animal shelters are a great place to volunteer! They are regularly in need of additional volunteers to help with the care of the many animals they house.
- Local animal rescues! With limited funding, independently-run rescue organizations rely almost exclusively on volunteer support. Do some research, learn about the organizations in your area, and find one whose mission aligns with what you're looking for!
