Introduction to Preparing Your Block for a Disaster

This event is meant to help you and your block to get started organizing yourselves to help each other in the event of a disaster.

You will learn about a simple and proven process called Map Your Neighborhood. Map Your Neighborhood is a guided process developed  by Washington State Emergency Management that will enable your block to prepare. (If interested, check out the materials here:

We also aim to connect you with other similar-minded folks from different blocks so that you feel supported and connected.

The Irvington Community Association is ready to support you in preparing you and your neighbors. As the Irvington neighborhood is comprised of around 8500 people, it will be way more effective if we prepare as hyper-local entities. We hope that you will help us to do this by representing your block.

The Disaster Preparedness Committee will organize all blocks, starting with this introductory meeting with those willing to help us. Our ultimate objective is to have every block in the neighborhood complete the MYN process.
