SLAGH Deborah Hunt Emerging Leader Award
About the Award
The Stonewall Law Association of Greater Houston ("SLAGH") recognizes that positive accomplishments of law student LGBTQIA and ally leaders are vital to the success of the LGBTQIA community as a whole.  SLAGH is committed to supporting and cultivating emerging legal leaders.  To promote the success of recent LGBTQIA and ally law school graduates, and in response to to the financial struggles law school graduates often face, SLAGH created a monetary award program: the Emerging Leader Award  (the "Award").  The Award is now given in memory of Deborah E. Hunt, long-time member and board member of SLAGH, and a pioneering Houston-based attorney in LGBT law and in the promotion of the rights of the LGBTQIA community.  All eligible individuals are encouraged to apply for the renamed Deborah Hunt Emerging Leader Award.  SLAGH will announce the selected recipient(s) at its annual meeting in April.

Eligibility Requirements
All December 2022 and May/Summer 2023 law school graduates from the University of Houston, South Texas College of Law, and Texas Southern University are eligible to apply.  Special attention will be paid to those applicants who are members of Stonewall Law Association of Greater Houston.  Membership to SLAGH is free to all students who are currently enrolled in a Houston-area law school.  Award selection will be made based both on the achievements and financial need of the applicant(s).
