Student Field Trips
(Tours and Interactive Experiences)
PK-12 educators are seeking experiences for their students that will increase their awareness of local industry, promote work positivity, and build their oral vocabulary. Visiting various work environments is a great way to do this.
Tours
Some environments will be better suited for tours, where schools groups would visit and walk through the work environment with a guide. Students would observe the workplace and ask questions about what they see.
Interactive Experiences
Other environments could allow for greater interaction between the students and what they observe. With guidance, students might handle tools, supplies, or products: try on gear; or speak to employees.

Internships / Work Based Learning
Internships are experiences where high school students learn through work. Organizations willing to host an intern would onboard this student to the work environment, provide guidance and mentoring, and assign the student appropriate work projects. Internship placements typically occur for one or more school semesters, but may also take place over the summer.
Students often receive school credit through participation, and may also be compensated by the employer.
Expectations for students and employers through an intern relationship are coordinated through the student's school and outlined in a training agreement.
