Fill out this form to apply to be a pattern tester for The Periwinkle Dragon Designs (Carolyn Lisle)! There are no wrong answers here -- I appreciate having testers with a wide range of skill levels, experience, and areas of interest. These questions just give me an idea of who you are as a knitter before I add you to the pattern testing group (and filling out a form prevents spammers from trying to join the group).
I believe in pattern testing as a critical step in producing a professional-quality knitting pattern. I provide a welcoming and open testing space where testers are encouraged to make suggestions and offer their honest feedback on the instructions, positive or negative. I strive to offer long, flexible deadlines and, while the pattern documents testers receive are not final and some minor issues sometimes are missed in editing, they are always previously edited and in a good-quality state. Sharing/posting on social media is
never required from testers; occasionally (for secret tests especially) I might ask testers who do want to post about their projects to hold back until the pattern is published, but my policy is always that testing is for feedback purposes and not for marketing. You can find out more about how knitters who test patterns for me are compensated for their assistance
here.
My pattern testing is hosted on Slack, which is a modern, ad-free, and accessible platform that can be used in a web browser without downloading anything; it also has high-quality mobile and desktop apps. It is very easy to use -- a Slack workspace is basically just a set of chat forums that can only be accessed by invitation. If you are accepted after filling out this form, you will receive an email from Slack within 48 hours (usually much sooner, especially if there is an open test call) inviting you to join. Be sure to check your junk folder! Sometimes the invites from Slack get caught in the spam filter.
I am currently accepting new testers for all categories of items. You can see my portfolio of published designs on my website at
