N 40th St Safety Treatments
As part of the Green Lake and Wallingford Paving and Multi-Modal Improvements Project, N 40th St will receive: sidewalk repair, new curb ramps, rapid flashing beacons, and a repaved road. In coordination with this work on N 40th St, the SDOT Vision Zero program is considering additional crossing safety treatments for pedestrians and bicyclists. We are asking for your feedback on the treatments for the below locations. Please provide comments, concerns, or recommendations under each location below. Please provide comments by Sunday June 30th, 2019.

N 40th St and Wallingford Ave N
Upgrade all vehicle signals to larger sized lights with a yellow reflective backing and 2) Change traffic signal timing to include a leading pedestrian interval for all crossings (A leading pedestrian interval gives pedestrians a head start at an intersection by turning on the pedestrian signal 3-7 seconds before parallel vehicles are given the green light)
