Employment Disclaimer Doggie Daycare
We have found that many people do not have a very realistic view of what working in a place such as ours involves.    Please read the following very carefully before signing.

You need to understand that the primary purpose of this daycare facility is to take care of other people’s pets during the day.    This business is seasonal in nature and while we try to keep your schedule as consistent as possible, you can expect your hours or days to vary according to our needs.    We realize that working under these conditions can be difficult for some people, but that is the nature of the business and your DEPENDABILITY in this area is critical.    If you do not think you can be that flexible, then this is not the job for you.

During the 1st 90days after being hired, new staff cannot request time off.  You must be available to work both the morning and afternoon shifts,    between 7am to ~12pm and 2pm to ~6:00pm, ie we do not have split shifts with one employee working the morning and another working the afternoon. If you have any restrictions in these hours, this is not the job for you.

If you do not have a genuine love of animals, you should not be here.    But keep in mind that we want people who are mature enough to understand and accept the responsibilities we place on them.    You are NOT going to be paid to sit around and play with cute little puppies all day.    Someone has to clean up after them and see to their comfort and security, rain or shine.   Daycare is a time for the dogs to play with one another.    You are on the floor to make certain that they are behaving properly, only using positive reinforcement techniques.   This requires a great deal of hard work and dedication. While working here, you will be exposed to filth, loud noises, cleaning chemicals, a variety of parasites and zoonosis(medical ailments that people can acquire from animals), dogs jumping on you and pressing close as you stand or walk, and the ever present risk of being bitten, scratched or knocked off your feet.    These are the potential hazards you face and accept by working here.

With very few exceptions, there are NO specialists here.    You will be expected to perform any task we require of you.  We will try to make the best use of your skills and experience, but don’t expect to be exempt from the more mundane and unpleasant chores that need to be performed.    Floors need to be mopped, garbage cans need to be emptied, poop needs to be picked up from the yard.    If you get ill at the idea of cleaning up diarrhea or vomit, then you are in the wrong place.    If you cannot pick up a 40 lb.bag of dog food or move a 50 lb.sack of grain, this is not the right place for you.   If you are allergic to dog hair or cannot work with cleaning chemicals, now is the time to leave.

We want mature, responsible people.    You must be reliable, patient, intelligent, and capable of independent action.    If you have to be constantly supervised, or if you cannot find things to do on your own, then you will not fit in well here.    We take our profession very seriously. If you wish to work here, then you must too.
