DCH1 Amazonians United Petition for Coronavirus Protections
To Site Lead Domonic Wilkerson and DCH1 Management:
1. Shut down the warehouse immediately, with pay, for thorough disinfection of the entire facility.
2. Implement ongoing safety measures and stock necessary cleaning supplies.
3. Cover all medical bills for associates that contract coronavirus, as well as our family members who get infected from our exposure to the virus at Amazon.
4. Suspend processing all non-essential items through DCH1.
5. Suspend all rate-based write-ups, and reduce rate so that the work can be done safely while social distancing.
6. Pay all associates in government-mandated or medically-mandated self-quarantine.
7. Communicate transparently for all coronavirus-related issues at DCH1 and inform ALL DCH1 associates of related issues AS SOON AS THE INFORMATION IS KNOWN.

The first known case of coronavirus has been confirmed at DCH1, and the response from management has been entirely insufficient to protect all DCH1 associates from infection. They claim to be doing:
- “Enhanced cleaning” - We have seen cleaners using non-approved cleaning products, the same rags over and over, and only wiping down basic surfaces at the warehouse. Most areas in the warehouse are not disinfected like in the cells, the belts, dock areas, and of course all of the packages.
- “Social distancing” - The supposed social distancing measures such as the tape on the ground and the cardboard cutouts are only for show. And the requirement for associates to stay 6 feet apart is simply absurd because associates would be unable to do most of our jobs & at the rates demanded if we attempted to follow that rule. Management has also been caught making associates pose for manufactured photos to create false evidence that social distancing is legitimately implemented at DCH1.
- “Only delivering necessary items” - Most of the items that are shipped in their original packaging that we can see are clearly not essential items. In the past week for example, we’ve processed TVs, lawn mowers, tables, computer chairs, exercise equipment, and inflatable bounce houses just to name a few of the heavier items. Far from groceries, medical supplies, or other essential items that Amazon claims to be prioritizing.
This is why we are demanding:
1. Shut down the warehouse immediately, with pay, for thorough disinfection of the entire facility.
- No amount of “enhanced cleaning” is effective while associates are still working throughout the warehouse transferring around possible contamination.
- We need a complete detailed explanation of the disinfection measures taken in order to be more confident that we are safe: exactly which cleaning products are used, and which of the warehouse areas have been disinfected.
- Other Amazon warehouses with coronavirus cases have shut down for disinfection like in NYC. We should too.
- 100% pay for ALL employees of the facility while it is shut down.
2. Implement ongoing safety measures and stock necessary cleaning supplies.
- Daily thorough warehouse cleanings with approved disinfecting products.
- Disinfecting supplies sufficiently stocked and available to use regularly for all of our work areas, devices, surfaces, packages.
- Additional breaks for routine hand-washing throughout our shifts.
- Include members of DCH1 Amazonians United in any decision-making process regarding safety measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.
- Amazon has not fulfilled the 2-week quarantine pay as defined in the policy publicly released on March 11, to the vast majority of employees. We need Amazon to make their own policies a real thing instead of just a PR stunt.
7. Communicate transparently for all coronavirus-related issues at DCH1 and inform ALL DCH1 associates of related issues AS SOON AS THE INFORMATION IS KNOWN.
- By waiting to inform associates about the positive coronavirus case after volume had been sorted and multiple shifts had entered and worked at the warehouse, management kept associates in the dark and put many of us at risk of infection without our knowledge or consent.
