In support of SPECTRUM, Waterloo Region’s Rainbow Community Space, Wisdom2Action is conducting a consultative survey of trans people, their supporters (families, friends and colleagues), and service providers living and working in Waterloo Region. This information will inform the development of a forthcoming Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Toolkit for the Transgender Community in Waterloo Region.
The survey asks questions around general health and wellness, access to healthcare, and inquires as to what tools or resources would most help trans people and those who support them. Participants will have the opportunity to identify their interest to participate in a subsequent interview.
Some of the questions in this survey deal with sensitive subjects, including suicide, discrimination, and transphobia. If you need support please utilize one of the following resources:
1) If you live in Waterloo Region and are in crisis call Here 24/7 at 1.844.437.3247 (

Opening their doors in 2012, SPECTRUM is Waterloo Region’s 2SLGBTQ+ / Rainbow community space. SPECTRUM provides a safe space for the region's Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer community through programing, resources, events and more.
Wisdom2Action (W2A) is a 2SLGBTQ+ owned and operated social enterprise and consulting firm. Through W2A’s commitment to anti-oppression, community engagement, and evidence-based practice, we help civil society organizations and governments facilitate change and strengthen communities.
Through this survey, we are seeking to better understand the needs, priorities and recommendations of trans people, providers of social and health services, and people in the lives of trans folks (parents, partners, friends and colleagues) to promote positive mental health and prevent abuse, self harm and suicide among trans communities.
