The Ripple Effect: Water-Use and Conservation Program
  • WV Department of Environmental Protection's Watershed Improvement Branch has rain barrels that can be installed to eligible nonprofits and educational institutions around the Mountain State. To see if your school or nonprofit is eligible, complete and submit this form. The rain barrel installation includes a 55-gallon used olive barrel and an Earthminded DIY Rain Barrel Diverter Kit. We have all the tools necessary to install the rain barrel to your downspout. In addition to the free rain barrel installation, Project WET programming and activities will be offered to students and youth as part of Water-Use and Conservation Program.  If you have any questions, please direct them to Jasper Gue, Project WET VISTA at Jasper.M.Gue@wv.gov or Tomi Bergstrom, Project WET Coordinator at Tomi.M.Bergstrom@wv.gov

When a rain barrel is full, it can weigh over 450 lbs! Due to this, we request that you create a 2'x2' flat and level space next to the downspout for the barrel to be placed on. Do you have a space like this available?
Do you plan to elevate the rain barrel?  If so, the stand or cinder block will need to be on site before installation. Share with us your plan on elevating it or not.

Note:  Three (3) to four (4) concrete blocks (8" x 8" x 16") can be used to elevate it or a wooden platform.
Does your organization utilize other environmental education, water science, or green infrastructure projects or programs? If yes, please describe: *
