The Bakerloo Line extension would be good for Lewisham, Southwark & Bromley. It would improve connectivity for local residents traveling into central London. By helping people access the wider jobs market available in central London, it will help tackle poverty and unemployment locally. It will also support local economic development, bring jobs, investment and opportunities.
Extending the Bakerloo Line to Lewisham and onwards via Catford, towards Bromley would also be good for London. South-east London suffers from much weaker transport links than the rest of the city. Lewisham has significant potential for growth and regeneration – extending the Bakerloo Line would be the catalyst needed to realise this potential. This development has a clear case, and meets several of the Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy objectives. It would deliver a good return on investment ensuring affordability and future reinvestment.
Extending the Bakerloo line to Lewisham would be good for Lewisham, Southwark, Bromley and for London. We call on the Mayor of London and TfL to approve the extension of the Bakerloo Line via Lewisham and onwards towards Bromley, and to get the work underway as soon as possible.
