Inspired by the age-old practice of Lectio Divina, which is characterized by a prayerful reading of the Scriptures, Visio Divina is based on the contemplation of an image.
In this guided meditation, we will be gathered around a work by the Hungarian artist Károly Ferenczy (1862-1917). This form of meditation is an ancient form of Christian prayer in which we allow our hearts and imaginations to enter into a sacred image, in silence, to see what God might have to say to us. It does not require any knowledge of art history. It is enough to observe an image attentively, to allow oneself to be challenged by the colors, the forms, the textures and to respond, in prayer, to what God wants to communicate to us through the image.
