Topics for Possible Involvement
The Kent Environmental Council has several topics that need our attention in the coming year. Please indicate your interest in learning more about what is happening and how you can help make a difference.
1. Recycling/Solid Waste: KEC was instrumental in bringing recycling to Kent and then to Portage County. One of the new County Commissioners has expressed desire to roll back this service.

2. Renewable Energy: We want to increase usage of solar and wind power and help create infrastructure (e.g. charging stations) for zero-emission vehicles .

3. Water Resources: Protecting wetlands, drinking water, & watersheds. We continue to have specific concerns about fracking and algae blooms.

4. Local Wildlife Habitats: Promoting pollinators and other wildlife pockets and corridors.

6. "Make Kent Wild" Garden Tour: Specific initiative to support #4 & #5. Guided tours of neighborhood gardens over several weekends in the summer of 2021 to promote awareness of pollinator-friendly plants and edible landscapes.
