School Resource Officer
As the Tupper Lake Central School District considers adding School Resource Officers to our schools, we are interested in feedback from the community.

A School Resource Officer (SRO) is generally considered to play a variety of roles within a school including, but not limited to the following:
1) Provide security against intruders and/or other threats to the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors;
2) Work with students to learn about personal safety, and build positive relationships with law enforcement;
3) Work with faculty and staff on safety measures and protocols;
4) Work with administrators and building safety teams to identify weaknesses in safety, and help in the development of safety plans;
5) Foster community partnerships to build positive relationships and extend resources to parents and community members.

It would be our hope to have an SRO in each building while school is in session that would follow the District's calendar. Ideally, this would be in place by September 1, 2019.
