Now, some FAQ's...What is Color Guard? Color Guard is a very unique performing activity. Color Guard performers are primarily the visual section of the marching band. Color Guard members perform and dance to the Marching bands music while using Flags, Rifles, and Sabres to help "bring the music or show to life". Color Guards are often called the “storytellers” of the marching band show!
Who can be in Color Guard?Any student attending FMHS for the 2019-2020 school year is eligible to audition for the color guard program! Even if you’ve never had any experience in dance or performing, we encourage you to still audition for the Color Guard! We know that Color Guard can seem intimidating when looking at it from the “outsiders” perspective (because of the high flying equipment!) ...but, no worries... Every student was new once; we’ll teach you EVERYTHING! The staff and the veteran members are here to make you feel comfortable and to help you through the Audition process.
What's the audition process like?Everyone "Auditions" in groups, so you'll never be alone in the Audition/Clinic process. You'll learn a small Dance combination, you'll learn a short Flag combination, and you'll showcase those skills with 4-5 other students(some older/veteran members- to help you feel comfortable) in front of a panel of judges. The actual audition only takes about 5 mins per group. Once you're group is seen, you're free to go and results are posted the following evening on the FMHS Band website. www.fmhsband.org
